If you’re an entrepreneur in the business of Facebook Marketing one thing is for sure: failing is part of the path to success. Meet Cat Howell, Founder and CEO of Eight Loop Social, a successful Facebook Ads Agency that has pioneered performance-based ads. That’s not all…besides scaling her own agency like a champ, she shares her wins and losses freely with her tribe.

Howell has made her global mark as a Facebook ad expert and social agency owner. She has a team of 17 full-time staff and has generated $14 million in sales since 2017. Now she’s showing other agency entrepreneurs and freelancers how to scale using her tried and true systems, procedures and best practices.

I started following this rising star about a year ago when I noticed her fresh face and crypto-like smarts in the Facebook newsfeed. Beyond Facebook ads, Cat dishes out some incredible advice and insights. Our paths crossed at a conference this year and the rest is history, I must share her with the female disruptor world.

Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I never grew up an entrepreneur and it wasn’t until I landed a job as a marketer working for entrepreneurs and investors that the spark was lit inside. Inspired and ready for massive success, I launched my first business and completely fell flat on my face. In hindsight, it was fundamental to getting me to where I am now as it opened up the world of Facebook advertising to me and the rest is history still being made!

What advice would you give other women wanting to start a biz?

Surround yourself with people that are where you strive to be and carefully curate who you allow to give you advice.

How do you bring goodness to the world?

Aside from helping entrepreneurs achieve their full potential, we also put aside one percent of business revenue for charities and local community initiatives.

None of us are able to achieve success without some adversity along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are?

My ex-husband was extremely supportive of my journey as an entrepreneur and placed a lot of trust in what I was doing. I don’t think I’d be where I am now without having that kind of foundation.

1. Done is better than perfect.
2. Carefully curate who you hang around with.
3. Experience trumps textbook learning any day.
4. Failures are just speed-bumps to pivot you toward where you need to be.
5. Mindset is everything — prioritizing mindfulness and intentional goal setting.

Can you please give us your favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share how it’s relevant to you in your life?

“Today is a day for borrowing time, and forgetting to give it back”

To me, this quote is a reminder that the present moment is the only thing that really matters.

Is there a person in the world, or in the US whom you would love to have a private breakfast or lunch with, and why?

What are you most excited about for 2019?

My new project Pay the Invoice. It is a web-based documentary premiering August 9, 2019 on Digital Distillery’s social channels. The online docu-series follows seven ad agency owners/freelancers on an 8-week journey as they experience the trials and tribulations of scaling up a business.
