Fortunately for Brittany, she has had a positive experience being a woman in the Green Industry. “People, for the most part, are very kind and helpful,” she says. However, she does acknowledge it is sometimes hard to get respect from her peers in the industry.
Equality is of the utmost importance to Brittany. To her, equality today means equal job opportunities to everyone. She wishes people would be hired for their skill level and experience, and nothing else. As a business owner, all she wants is to find the best person to fill the position.
When asked what piece of advice she would give to the next generation of women landscapers, Brittany said, “never be afraid to go after what you want.” Failure is okay as long as you learn from it and continue to push forward.
For Brittany, she realized she could do it when she sold her first landscaping job of her own. She realized it was possible for her to hold a bigger role in the company outside of the office. While she loves running her company, Brittany is grateful she gets to do it with her husband. However, she says “on the days it’s good, it’s great but on the days it’s bad, it’s terrible.” She explains that despite being husband and wife, they are still humans and have disagreements. But it all comes down to how they handle it. And to break up the everyday grind, they try to schedule dates every month.
This Spring, Brittany Auman is looking forward to launching two new training videos. Additionally, her podcast launched recently and she will be attending the Together in the Trades Conference in Waco, TX in June. Exciting stuff ahead!! Connect with Brittany on LinkedIn!
