This Female Disruptor set out on her own to help women create a life and career they are wildly passionate about. Annmarie runs SheHaus, a Mindset Coaching Business dedicated to elevating and empowering women.

Her desire to do better in the world drove her to leave behind a 20-year corporate career and surrounded herself with other like-minded women that inspire. “More” is a motto she lives by more love, more impact, more fulfillment. This strategy has led her clients away from doubt and stress and toward a balanced life. Annmarie’s guidance pushes women out of the “safe zone” and reveals a bold and confident person from within.

Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I was a corporate leader through and through for 20 years. Worked for an amazing company and grew a tremendous amount. I learned pretty quickly how much I loved helping others reach their true potential and did much of that throughout my career.

Towards the end though, I felt this extreme pull to be a part of something bigger that involved helping women. It kills me to think about all the amazing women out there playing it small, doubting their greatness and living so far off from the happiness and success they deserve. The impact they would have in this world if they just had the right guidance and belief in themselves gives me chills. It’s something I had to be a part of.

When did the entrepreneur light bulb go off?

My light bulb moment was a bit more like a kick-in-the-ass lightning bolt. Even though I consistently felt this pull for more. More impact. More fulfillment. More happiness, I was scared to take the leap away from my secure paycheck and what I knew for so long.

It was getting clear to me though that I just didn’t fit in anymore in the structure of my longtime corporate home. And as fate would have it, my company downsized and my role was eliminated. So I had a choice. Find another secure paycheck job doing what I knew or finally going after my dream to build my own business.

Well, you can guess which one I chose.

What advice would you give other women wanting to start a biz?

You are not in this alone. There is a revolution happening out there of women starting their own businesses and through them you can find inspiration, guidance, accountability, friendship and so much more.

My advice is to surround yourself with other women entrepreneurs, locally and online. You will be amazed how much you will learn and grow along the way with others.

How do you bring goodness to the world?

My mission personally and professionally is to always try to bring out and see the good in others. It’s really why I do what I do.

People who are drawn to me as their coach are called to have more impact in the world. It’s like a ripple effect. My heartfelt business helps others with their heartfelt business or career and they help others and so on and so on. It’s a beautiful thing.

None of us can achieve success without some adversity along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story about that?

There are a lot of great coaches, mentors and friends I could point out that definitely helped me along the way. I am truly blessed.

But if I had to pick one person that for without them I would not be where I am today, it would be my husband Louis. He defines unconditional love and support. He was my cheerleader before I believed I could do this and he’s still cheering me on today.

What are your “5 Leadership Lessons I Learned From My Experience” and why?

1. Investing in your personal development is not optional. Yes, things like working on business strategies and developing your team is very important, but if you aren’t giving yourself a shot of inspiration and introspection now and then, your leadership will suffer.
2. Building relationships is crucial. Being an authentic leader who genuinely cares about others and makes real connections is a requirement to be an exceptional leader.
3. Being vulnerable is a sign of strength. I used to think I was in it alone and asking for help showed others that I couldn’t handle the job, but what I’ve found is that people LOVE to help. Not many leaders have the courage to go there, so it also really sets you apart and brings you so much more respect and support.
4. Working crazy hard doesn’t mean you’ll be successful. When I found myself failing the most as a leader was when I took on too much. I had no balance and was unhappy. We’ve been sold this story that success has to involve long hours, major hustle, and sacrifice. I call BS.
5. Perfectionism is a thing of the past. Putting things out there messy and taking imperfect action, is quite freeing. Doesn’t mean you are doing bad work, it just means you aren’t stuck in the safe zone afraid to make a mistake or a bold move.

Is there a person in the world whom you would love to have a private breakfast or lunch with, and why?

Katie Couric.

She’s so down to earth and authentic. I’d love to hear how she stays grounded and confidently moves her career forward. She is passionate about important issues in the world but is also silly and goofy. How cool is that?

Where will social media in five years?

I wonder if there will be less trust in relying on certain platforms to control so much client information and interaction. Not sure if that means new or changed platform options where you can control more, but I don’t think it will just be status quo as it is today.

What are you excited about for this year?

2019 is a year of evolution for me and my business. I’m sharing more and more of my spiritual gifts like reiki and energy readings, hand in hand with my coaching and business expertise. I am in the process of redesigning and launching my website to include services and products that will help today’s woman get to a new level personally and professionally. It’s an exciting time!
